Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. from September through May at the Harris Bank (unless otherwise noted in this space).

Directions: The Harris Bank is located on the southeast corner of Scottsdale Road and Carefree Highway outside of El Pedregal.  At the front entrance to the bank, go through the door to your left and down the stairs to the community room.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

This month's speaker, Bev Brooks, delivered a brief history of her life in Cave Creek, the town as it used to be, and the founding of the Cave Creek Saddle Club of which she is one of the charter members. With Maps and pictures, Bev talked about some of the people responsible for forming and developing the town. Due to time restraints, as her usual presentations takes about 5 hours, she had to omit some of the gossip.

This months' Newsletter will be the last that will be sent out to those who have not paid their dues for this year. A membership application is on our web site www.cavecreeksaddleclub.org or give one of the officers a call and we'll be happy to send you one.

Due to insurance rules all guest riders must pay $5.00 for a one day membership and fill out the form.

GRANITE MOUNTAIN RIDE Saturday, October 22, 2005
The Ride, lead by Jean Pearson, was attended by 5 riders. The trail was well traveled around Granite Mountain and south to the camp areas. We took the opportunity to do some GoeCache hunting using the GPS. (This is a cyberspace based treasure hunt for containers hidden in various locations around the U.S. GPS coordinates are used to locate the boxes.) The one box we found required a short detour of bushwhacking and travel on foot.

COW SORTING CLINIC Sunday, November 20, 2005
Sunday, November 20th Susan Dryer organized a cow sorting clinic at the Diamond Tree Ranch on 53rd Street. We had 10 cow punchers and chasers show up riding horses and mules. It was 4 hours of pure fun and games directed by Larry Maybon and his able assistant, Bob. The format of the clinic was an hour or so instructions on what and what not to do followed by a short break and competition.

The competition was won by Cindy Ramsey and Ric Ingram through superior horsemanship and riding skill. They went home with prizes of horse treats and 10 bucks of their fellow competitors' money.

A real nice 10 inch diameter decal of the club logo is available for the modest price of $10. The border circle and horseshoe are red, the lettering and horse head are black. It’s a must for every trailer and truck tailgate. Contact Bob Doerzbacher at 480-575-1012.
