PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE The Town of Cave Creek held
a meeting on December 7th dealing with the identification and documentation of
horse and foot trails within the town limits. The meeting had about 53 attendees
including many CCSC members. This is an ongoing program in an advanced stage.
This meeting defined some priority trails to concentrate on currently. They include
the trail between Cave Creek Recreation Area and Spur Cross Ranch, Cave Creek
Recreation Area and the center of town, and a "bypass" trail at the
north end of Spur Cross Road. The current task is to obtain permission for official
use (i.e. easements, right of way, and donation of land) of these trails and all
other trails now used by riders and hikers. The office of Trails Coordination
has identified many, if not most, of these trails. They need our cooperation and
the cooperation of the land owners who have these trails crossing their property
in obtaining official permission for their use. The CCSC members are urged to
educate themselves on the Program and to contact their neighbors who have trail
crossing their property and urge them to officially allow, in some manner, the
use of the trail. Home owner liabilities for official use of these trails have
been addressed.In
the long haul, it is vital that these trails be officially established if we,
as riders and hikers, are to continue to use the trails within the Town limits.
The next Trails meeting will be held on January 18, 2006 at 6:00 PM at Town Hall.
Please make plans to attend and support this Program. Contact for this Program
is Bambi Muller, Town of Cave Creek Associate Planner/ Trails Coordinator (480-488-6609).
She can answer the tough questions. Or call Bob Doerzbacher (480-575-1012) for
answers to the routine questions.
Preserve
Our Trails, Preserve Our Heritage
On December 7th, committed citizens
of Cave Creek attended a special work session of the Mayor's Advisory Committee
on Trails in the town of Cave Creek. About 45 attendees in all, several well-known
equestrian citizens were in attendance, including Floyd Brooks, Terry Smith, Tom
O'Reilly, and Donna Russ, all Cave Creek Horse Heroes.
There was a slide
presentation denoting the status of the trail system in Cave Creek. The goal was
to gather public opinion as to prioritizing those trails for immediate and future
development. The majority of opinion was the importance of Spur Cross Road being
designated as the high priority trail to be developed in the Northeast corridor.
The Club was well represented: Bob Doerzbacher, Frank Z., Andie Zampella,
Ted and Mary White, Susan Dryer, and Jean Anderson. The next meeting is scheduled
in January. Your attendance and participation count; come on out and play a part
in making a difference!
