PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hi everyone,
Happily, we had an impressive turnout for our first meeting of the year. Thanks to Mark Lipsky for his determination for us to view his video, in spite of technical difficulties. While Frank Z. came to the rescue with his expertise, Mark drove all the way home for another laptop to run the video. I think everyone would agree it was a wonderful introduction to the coming year. Cave Creek is indeed a very special town.

After acknowledging past leaders and introducing our new governing body, we went on to discuss old & new business.
The issue of "to insure or not insure" is still open to discussion. For our upcoming rides, all ride leaders will be responsible to see that all guest riders pay their fee and sign a waiver of liability. There will also be a roster for member riders to sign, acknowledging their waiver, as well. As a courtesy to our ride leaders, we are requesting that all attending riders RSVP, both for an idea of the group size and for a list to phone should there be any changes to the ride. Everyone's cooperation is appreciated!!!

The Ride and Event Schedule is updated in our newsletter. There has been a change, and November 4th or 5th is open to anyone who would like to lead a ride. Perhaps, somewhere new or a trail we have not ridden in a while?!? Are their any scouts out there?

Again, mark your calendars for our next meeting, October 17th. Kevin Rice from Sportsman's Warehouse will be educating us on using our GPS. Bring your GPS and any questions you might have.

I look forward to riding with as many of you as possible on the trails in the coming month!

Susan, President

PS from Susan~~ Bienvenue to our new members: Shelley Anderson, Suzi Delph, Lana Keisel and Lucy Soyster. And welcome back to Mary Chick and Steve Robbins!

Groom Creek
The Sept 23rd ride at Groom Creek was attended by 11 riders on 9 horses & 2 mules. Thank you Bob D for leading us on such a beautiful ride through the forest. And thanks to former member, Karen Fattorosi, for joining us. The scent of the pines, well behaved equines & a relaxing lunch by a stream made for an excellent first ride of the season.

Notes from Linda Anderson of Cave Creek Wild West Days
Cave Creek Wild West Days are coming up soon. This years' event will be a very exciting fun filled family festival. We recentlycompleted the Poker Ride pre-ride using the Town of Cave Creek's new trail on Spur Cross Road. It was a beautiful ride that brought us down Spur Cross to the Galloway wash. We then road down the wash to Gateway Desert Awareness and T.C. Thorstenson's property where many events will take place during Wild West Days. The ride will include several stops sponsored by local businesses. At the end of the ride, we will meet at the Camp behind the Buffalo Chip to present awards to the best poker hand. Entry forms for the Poker Ride will be available by contacting Linda Anderson at 480-595-5586 or via e-mail at coyoteacct@qwest.net. We hope to see you all out there on the trail!
Linda
