PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
Happy
New Year, Everyone!Wow!
What a turnout for the Holiday Ride! It was great to see past acquaintances and
visit with new members while we waited for the dinner bell to sound. Special recognition
goes to Cindy Ramsey who partnered with Nancy Doerzbacher to make for a super
fun event. We are starting 2007 off with 27 new members! We welcome you
all and look forward to seeing everyone on the trails in the coming months. Feel
free to input any new places to ride to Bob Doerzbacher, our Trail Coordinator,
or any ideas for events to his lovely wife, Nancy Doerzbacher, our Event Coordinator.
Come out to our meetings and get to know each other and help us plan for the upcoming
months. Our January
meeting on Tuesday, the 16th will feature Jerry Caswell, a farrier, who will speak
about the most important part of the horse: his feet! Susan,
President

RIDE
REPORTS Please
send your ride reports and pictures. SPUR
CROSS RIDE REPORT by Rik Ingram Sunday, December 3rd dawned cold &
blustery, but sunny & clear. We all showed at the Spur Cross trail head (a
total of 14 riders) and pulled out at 10:15 AM. All was well until the 1st water
crossing. Then, due to some equine refusal issues, we lost 2 riders. The rest
of the ride on trail #48 was quite pretty with the usual creek crossings &
color in the foliage. However, we did have a bracing north wind. Leaving the creek
bed, we climbed trail #4 until it's junction with trail #1533. The views up and
down the canyon were panoramic from the crest of #1533. On the down slope of the
#1533 we lost 2 more riders due to lost shoe issues. The remaining 10 of us continued
to the old ranch site, where we had a creek side lunch. Fortunately, the creek
was flowing, which added to our enjoyment. Warmed up by then, most of us shed
our jackets. The ride back up the canyon & on to the trailers was quite pleasant.
Of the original 14 riders, we had 6 first timers with the club. And 5 decided
to become members. Despite the chilly start & the loss of riders, everyone
seemed to enjoy the ride.
ASHA
RIDE REPORT by Jan Blake Saturday, December 9th turned out to be a perfect
day for a ride at McDowell Mt. Park. Several groups of riders explored the park
& enjoyed magnificent views from the top of the mountain. It was an easy ride
with well groomed trails. After the ride, we were treated to a delicious lunch,
followed by drawings & door prizes. The first prize was a beautifully hand
crafted saddle rack. Thank you ASHA for hosting this fun event. BUMBLE
BEE RIDE REPORT by Cindy Ramsey The Cave Creek Saddle Club Christmas Ride
was wonderful. With over 70 reservations, it had to be. There were lots of old
friends re-uniting with hugs and conversation. The Bumble Bee Ranch, Kelly and
Dallas, provided the food, rental horses and assisted with the trail. The ride
down the creek under the trees was such a treat and some of our desert riders
learned more about their horses and their aversions to water. Many of our new
members attended and we gained an additional 4 more members at the ride. By the
way, Bumble Bee Ranch has already been reserved for our 2007 Holiday ride. So,
go ahead & mark your calendars for Saturday, December 8th.
