Meeting: TUESDAY September 18, 2007 7:30 PM Welcome Back to All! Hope everyone has found ways to keep cool over these summer months, and ride, too! First, let’s welcome our new officers: Frank Ziskovsky as Vice President, Shannon Alexander as Trail Coordinator, Barb Ciocchetti, our Event Coordinator, and Norm Adams as Membership Chair. A special thanks to them for stepping up to bat! Let’s also give applause for our repeat officers, Cindy Ramsey as Treasurer, Jean Anderson, Secretary, Andy Lunk as Technology Master and Jan Blake as our Newsletter Editor. We have a full schedule for the next few months, launching the season with our annual kick-off Moonlight Ride & weenie roast. Please join us as we rekindle past friendships and perhaps, create some new ones! It is always great to end a ride with a social gathering. Please check out the new look on our website. Thanks to Andy, we are sporting a fabulous Western pattern. We are introducing our new Samventer, which will be where the rides and social events will be listed with an opportunity to get all the details and to RSVP with a click of your mouse! Yeah, technology! I encourage all members to come to our first meeting on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:30 PM to find out more about the coming season. We love your input! RIDE
REPORTS NOTES FROM OUR NEW TRAIL COORDINATOR Hello everyone. I’m Shannon Alexander, your new Trail Coordinator. I’m excited about the upcoming trail season, and look forward to meeting those of you that I haven’t already met. We have some great rides planned for you through December. We’ll be starting with a Moonlight ride and weenie roast on September 22nd. This ride will follow the Go John trail through the Cave Creek Recreation Area. We’ve gotten special permission from the park Ranger to ride there at night. And I’ll have the privilege of leading this ride. We also have rides planned for Wickenburg & Seven Springs. We plan to ride with the Lone Rangers & the Glendale Saddle Club. There’s also a poker ride planned for the Cave Creek Wild West Days. And, of course, we’ll have our annual Holiday ride & party at the Bumble Bee Ranch in December. I’m currently working on rides for January through May. So if anyone has any ride suggestions, or would like to lead a ride, please contact me. I hope to see you all at the next meeting. Until then, let’s have a safe & fun trail season! WEB SITE UPDATE by Andy Lunk As you may or may not have noticed the look of the website has changed. Some important new additions are coming to the web site in the near future. The most significant is the samventer event coordinating software. We are having Sam from transnetmedia add an events planning database application to our website. You will soon be able to RSVP events via the web. This will allow our trail and events coordinators to (more) accurately determine attendance. It will allow users to view who is signed up for any event, just in case you’re wondering. Other additions will be a photo gallery and classified section. The classified section will be strictly horse related. We are now starting a link exchange program. If you know of a horse related organization (non commercial) that would be willing to add a link to our web site we would return the favor by adding a link to their web site. This will help users find our web site and increase our page rankings. Just send your classified request, photos and link requests to andy(at) trailsofthewest.net and I will be happy to post your classifieds, photos and links. ASHA Notes from Jean Anderson The Arizona Trail is having a “Public Lands Day” Celebration up at Mormon Lake on Saturday, September 29th, 2007. The web site is: www.aztrail.org/. One may register to attend through the web site. I am in charge of getting the word out to all equestrians to PLEASE participate. This is a great opportunity for all of us to escape the heat for a weekend with our horses, & enjoy the cool pines at the lake. ASHA’s “Day at the Races” will be on Saturday, October 13th, 2007. Please join ASHA & your equestrian friends for a great time at Turf Paradise. Invitations will be sent out soon. So, be watching for them. Thanks……Jean
