PREZ SEZ

Dear Cave Creek Saddle Club Members,

While some folks up north are preparing for a cold winter, here we are gearing up for the best season ever.  Mount up and let's hit the trail!  We'll be starting off on Sunday, Oct 5th.  I sure hope to see lots of folks out there to enjoy that wonderful campfire breakfast by Cowgirls Forever.  I know that last year everyone raved about their good cookin'.  We are hoping that by offering two rides of different difficulty levels, it will allow everyone to come and provide the best and safest ride for you and your horse.

Last year we purchased the SAMVentor software so that ride coordinators could get an accurate headcount for their rides and also so we had a good way to notify folks if there was a change in plans. It's also a great place to post changes in information just as we did for the Oct 5th ride.

This month’s message is a request to all to use the website whenever possible to register for rides and other events.  Yes, we know that not everyone has a computer, but there's always a contact telephone number there too.  Your cooperation is invaluable to the person coordinating the ride.  Along that same line of thought, I'm sure you'll understand that when food is being purchased or reservations made at a restaurant, we need to assure adequate seating for our group.  In the case of a catered ride like Oct 5th or Christmas, it's vital that our guarantees are met.   So, in advance, thank you for helping us provide you with wonderful activities and trail rides.

There are some wonderful programs planned.  Octobers' speaker will be Trish Manes on animal acupuncture and wellness and November brings us Amy Ford, the Park Supervisor at Cave Creek Recreation Area (by the way, the rental on the ramada for the breakfast ride was waived by Amy).  Of course there's the Christmas Ride/Dinner in December but no meeting, so you'll have to wait until January to hear about the Sonoran McDowell Conservancy.

On a final note, I want to issue a special welcome invitation to those of you that may no longer be able to ride or whose horse is laid up.  Speak up, as sometimes there are extra horses available.  Please come to our “non-horsey” events and meetings.  We love to see you.

Welcome back in the saddle folks.  Happy Riding  2008-2009.  Cindy

Infoline from Cindy

Time to get those horses legged up for a great riding season.  Since many of us ride on state land, this is a great opportunity to renew (or get your first) State Land Permit.  However, I am saddened to say that Arizona State Land Department has increased their fees from $15 to $50 for an individual and $20 to $75 for a family permit.

Activities sponsored by some of our fellow clubs

November 8, 2008     Celebrate the new trailhead at Sophie's Flat.

The Wickenburg Conservation Foundation is determined to save the trails around Wickenburg and finally, with invaluable help from the BLM, the first of several non-motorized trail systems will open with rides, hikes, a fabulous barbecue, entertainment, free raffle tickets and loads of fun.

We hope you will all come out to show your support for the WCF's work to preserve our wonderful outdoors.  Marcy will send you a map when you register.

Come one, come all!! Sophie's Flat is less than 5 miles NE of Wickenburg (3 miles on Constellation Road and 1.5 miles on Blue Tank Road)

Please pass along to everyone that space is limited at the trailhead so the larger clubs/groups that may have more than 15 riders are encouraged to

either share trailers or use the day use parking and/or overnight campground across the street from the rodeo grounds off of Constellation Road (managed by the Town of Wickenburg).  It is free for day use

parking and $5.00 per campsite at the campground (no facilities) which accommodates approx. 3 truck w/trailers or RVs.  First come first served.

Anyone interested should contact me to get a map of the horse trail that will take them from the parking area to Sophie's Flat which is less than 2

miles.
