PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Howdy all,
We are so glad to welcome everyone to the 2006-2007 riding season. A very special thanks to those members who agreed to step up as officers and volunteers! They include: Rik Ingram, our enthusiastic new Vice President, Cindy Ramsey, graciously accepting another term as Treasurer and Membership; Jean Anderson, continuing as our Secretary extraordinaire; Bob Doerzbacher, past President and our new Trail Coordinator; Jan Blake is the new Editor of the Newsletter; Nancy Doerzbacher is fulfilling our newly created position of Event Coordinator. Special gratitude to Frank Ziskovsky, who continues to contribute his wise consultation and Bonnie Zimmerman who is the webmaster!
The officers of the Cave Creek Saddle Club are very excited about the upcoming rides and events of this season. We begin at the Groom Creek Trailhead on Saturday, September 23rd led by Bob Doerzbacher. The Spur Cross Ranch is one of our club favorites, on the eve of the full moon, Saturday, October 7th. The ride will be followed by our traditional hot dog roast. Please join us for dinner as we kick off the new season !
Other happenings in the month of October will be a ride in the Cave Creek Recreation Area, featuring complimentary breakfast served by the club on Sunday, the 15th. The Team Sorting Clinic with Larry Maybon will be Sunday the 22nd.
Our first club meeting on Tuesday, September 19th will feature a very special video by Cave Creek resident Mark Lipsky, which highlights the unique qualities of the town of Cave Creek. Mark's video was previewed at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Town of Cave Creek and brought the audience to its feet with a standing ovation. Inspiring, sentimental and humorous, don't miss this very special opportunity. Club business will follow the video. There is a lot coming up this year and we welcome your input. As always, refreshments will follow!
Susan, President of the Cave Creek Saddle Club

P.S. Mark your calendars for the October meeting; a representative from Sportsman's Warehouse will be there to instruct and answer questions regarding the use of a GPS!

Notes from Cindy Ramsey
Welcome back to CCSC's new ride year. Many of you have received calls from our calling committee. It has been fun to touch base and tell you about all the exciting changes we're planning for the new ride year. As Membership Chair/Treasurer I'm trying to keep everyone's addresses straight, who wants email news and who wants it by the postal delivery system. Please note all the enclosures in this newsletter. They are also available on our website at www.cavecreeksaddleclub.org. I'm sure one of the highlights is the reduced membership cost. See ya on the trail or at one of our new "events". Cindy

Notes from Jean Anderson
The National Day of the Cowboy (NDoC) was celebrated on Saturday, July 29th, 2006, at Greasewood Flat, in Scottsdale. The Rio Verde Horsemen's Association, The Cave Creek Saddle Club and the Arizona State Horsemen's Assn. helped organize this celebration, along with many, many volunteers. If you all missed this party, you really missed a great one.

There were over 14 vendors, several from out of state, a live auction, and a raffle. According to Greasewood, there were over 3000 people in attendance. Among our club members in attendance; our club's new President, Susan Dryer, Terry Smith, Frank Ziskovsky and his friend Sherrie, Tom and Simmie O'Reilly, their daughters, and their Grand Children, Immediate Past President Bob Doerzbacher and wife, Nancy, Rik Ingram, and Ferrell and I. All three of us, Ferrell, Rik and I served on the original NDoC committee. I will also mention that Cindy Ramsey helped on the committee also but was unable to attend.

The evening started at 6:30 PM. Several girls from the Cowgirl's Historical Foundation of Gilbert, who are past rodeo queens, were dressed in authentic rodeo outfits. Two of these girls greeted people riding horses; the horses clad in beautiful silver saddles and trappings.

Cave Creek is now the new home of the Executive Director of the NDoC, Bethany Braley, who works at True West Magazine in Cave Creek. The whole event benefited the NDoC which is a 501(c)(3). Next year's event date will be July 21st, 2007. The NDoC is always celebrated on the 4th Saturday of July, but Cheyenne Frontier Days is held on that day, so we decided to hold our event on the Saturday before, so Bethany could attend both.

The Cave Creek Saddle Club can be very proud of helping to sponsor this event.
