PRESIDENTS LETTER

First of all – Seasons Greetings to all. The season to share with family and friends, the season to run your hands over those rough winter horsey coats, the season to slip rides between all the other events that crowd our schedule.

The Holiday Ride for Cave Creek Saddle Club will be here before you know it. The area around Saguaro Lake is so very scenic and surely you’ll enjoy the event whether you’re in the saddle looking across the landscape or sitting on the porch at the lodge watching the river flow by under the sheer cliffs Be sure to get your check in for this event. Jean also wants me to remind you of the optional gift exchange.

There’s also the Team Sorting Clinic in December and the Partnership Clinic with Mary Sutherland in January. Both of these will require pre-registration so please let us know if you are interested.

Team sorting has always been popular with our club and we are excited to do this again. Please note that we will be going to Rio Verde area.

Mary (aka MareMare) is many years experience as a clinician and is well known for her magical ways of bringing you and your horse together in partnership.

At this writing, we are not firm on the program for January but hope to have Sue Davis visit the club again to discuss equine massage.

I sincerely hope to see you soon.

Cindy

For those that have not paid your dues, this will be your last newsletter.  We will miss you.

RIDE REPORTS

Sedona Ride

19 riders led by Frank Ziskovsky from the Lone Rangers and Cave Creek saddle clubs had a fabulous ride on the Red Rocks Loops Trails near Red Rock State Park. Fall colors were abundant on the trees along the creek to add to the beauty of the area. The 12.5 mile ride crossed Oak Creek a couple of times, and also climbed to higher elevations which became Kodak moments. Beautiful weather and scenery made the ride a great experience.

AzHC - Arizona Horse Council

At our Equine Summits, the Arizona Horse Council (AzHC) established several committees; these committees covered everything from fundraising, planning and zoning, youth & education, etc. We have decided that these committees are far too many. We have since encompassed all of these into three committees: Advocacy & Issues, Education and Marketing. Each of the board members, plus some volunteers, are on these particular committees, and have been working hard for you, the Arizona Equine Owner.

Under Advocacy: Unwanted Horses, Rehoming horses, Planning and Zoning. Under Education: Educate Public & Equestrians, Equine Experience Youth & Adults, Educate Public & Equestrians about Benefits of horses. Under Marketing: Strengthen AzHC, Summits, Increase participation
with equine experience, Fundraising, Equine Economics Sustainability, Improve attitude.

If you see any of these particular committees that interest you as a horse owner, PLEASE contact the AzHC President, Ed O'Brien at admin@allabouthorses.com. The AzHC needs YOU, and your input to keep this organization strong and representing you throughout the state. Our 2011 Election Ballots will be in the mail, soon, so be watching for them and vote. Please renew your AzHC Membership. Numbers count!!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Happy New Year, to all.
